Enlighten

Our History Department for the academic year 2021-2022 got inaugurated. The chief guest was Mr. Sethuraman, Vice president of Tamil Nadu Congress committee. In light of his speech I would like to highlight his talk which inspired me. He mainly stressed on the importance of education. An educated person is respected everywhere. People can snatch your money, property, assets. But they can’t snatch one thing from you that is the knowledge you acquired. The education you gained will remain with you only till the end of your life. He recalled what Nelson Mandela told about the importance of education. How can we destroy a country? You don’t need missiles, fighter jet, atom bomb all that. By annihilating the education system of a country you can destroy a nation. It only requires lowering the quality of education and allowing cheating in the examinations by the students. ‘Patients will die at the hands of such doctors’. ‘Buildings collapse at the hand of such engineers’. ‘Money...

Grace Teacher

When I was studying in 10th grade, youth festival was going on at our school. I gave my name for English elocution. When the event started I was standing outside the class. I saw my English teacher Grace and other 2 teachers were the judges. They only allow 5 students at a time and the teacher will give them the topic and we need to prepare within 5 minutes. I saw some of my friends preparing inside the class. When my turn came I got into the class. The teacher gave me the topic: ' Corporal crimes in schools. I didn’t understand the topic. I don’t know what to tell. One of my classmates saw me, lowered his voice, and asked me what topic I got. I told him the topic. He also got the same topic. He gave me a piece of paper that he prepared. I hid it. I don’t want teachers to find it out that I was cheating. I hid the paper below the desk and started writing from it. Grace teacher saw that and asked me what I was hiding. She asked me to give it to her. She found that I w...

Mother

Every mother is really concerned about their children. They try to give them the best . I experienced my mother’s anxiety and concern when I reached my 10th grade. She was busy finding tuition for me. She approached several tuition centers and finally found one. I joined T.I.M.E. The next morning onwards I woke up early and got ready for tuition. When I came for breakfast I got surprised. Chappati rolls with Nutella and boosts tea. She said now you reached your 10th grade, its is an important stage of your life so study well. Eat well and be healthy. I never saw a mother behaving like this. Whatever I decided to enjoy the meal. It continued for 1 or 2 weeks. But the timing was a big problem for me. The tuition was from morning 6.30 to 8.30. But I need to reach school before 8 am. Classes begin at 8.30 am at school. 1-2 weeks it went well. But I need to write the notes which I missed in the tuition class. It became a big burden for me. I decided to quit tuition. Somehow I made my ...

When I was studying in 7 th STD, my class teacher asked us to write any story or poem for the school magazine. Also said everyone should write it by their own. I was very confused. I don’t know what to write. Rest of them were writing something. Nothing new came in my mind. I remembered a poem taught by my mother when I was very small. I decided to write that. I knew it was a small kid’s poem, but I decided to move on. Some of my classmates who saw this poem started to laugh. They started to make fun of me. I felt little embarrassed. I submitted the poem. I had a feeling that what others including teachers will think about me. When we received the school magazine I was shocked to see my poem in it. Others were also surprised. It was very hard for me to believe it. From my class, only my article got published in the school magazine. Then teacher told us that I wrote it by my own. She also said some of them wrote Shelley’s and William Wordsworth's poem. It was a proud moment...
