Suheldev
‘Suheldev’, is a book written by Amish Tripathi. The
author portray him as an unsung hero in the Indian History.
During the
initial phases of Muslim invasion, Mahmud of Ghazni invaded India 17 times
between 1000CE and 1026 CE. He plundered the wealth of India, as he knew most
of the wealth is concentrated in the temples. He plundered the famous Somnath
Temple.
During that time, there was no unity among the Indian
kingdoms. Everyone were busy fighting each other. This weakened India. They
never united to fight foreign invader Mahmud of Ghazni and his Turkic hordes.
Caste system was very rigid. Discrimination in the
society exsisted.
But Suheldev was different. He believed that he is the
child of mother India and all others are his family. He opposed caste system.
He urged everyone to forget your caste and join together against the foreign
invaders. He frequently conducted Guerilla war against them.
I believe that this book help us to develop our
patriotism to our mother India.
‘Your mother is there for you, even when she isn’t
physically present. Just crying out for her gives you strength. Gives you what
you need to survive. The supreme power on this planet is the mother. If I have
to choose between my religion and India, I will choose India.’(Lines from the
book)
Religion will make us blind. Every religion has caste.
Every caste has sub-caste. This was the reason why there was no unity among the
rulers during that time. They gave top priority to their religion than their
motherland. There was no sense of patriotism. Suheldev was a charismatic ruler,
he was ready to sacrifice his life for his mother land. In the Battle of
Bahraich in 1034 CE, he fights Syed Maqsud, the nephew of Ghazni and Suheldev
defects him.
At the end of the book, we feel very proud to be
Indians.
Jai Maa Bhaarati!
